Fiji

Yes, we had another vacation! We are trying to make the most of this side of the world while we are here. :) So off to Fiji we went! It's only about a 3 or 4 hour flight from here, so of course, we had to go. And after going, I now understand why people go there for their honeymoon (and it has nothing to do with the fact that they ask you every 5 seconds whether you are on your honeymoon, so you might as well be). The place was absolutely gorgeous, or at least the island we were on was. Fiji apparently consists of about 320 little islands. We went to one called Vatulele. It was about a 25 minute puddle jumper ride away from the main island, where our resort was the only thing on the island other than a couple of the local tribes. The resort itself was beautiful and utterly private. There were only about 5 other couples there, while we stayed, and we had our own hut on the beach, surrounded by so many trees and shrubs that you had no idea there was anyone next door to you. And if that wasn't private enough, one day, we took a boat out to another island where the only things on it were a table, two lounge chairs, a cooler full of food and drinks and us. Perfect! Jason went diving a few times, and I got my fair share of reading done, which was so relaxing. Minus a few clouds and a bit of rain here and there (I'm not quite sure why we keep attracting rain on our beach vacations!), the week was perfect. And if you are wondering what the heck is around Jason's neck in that last picture . . . Because we got sick of telling everyone that it wasn't our honeymoon, we just started telling them that it was our anniversary. (It was actually our 12 year anniversary a few days before we went, so . . . close enough.) Well, they decided to cater a private dinner in our room in celebration, which came with a cake and decorative necklace! (I know all of you want one for your very own.) :) The cake was nice, but I'm not sure we needed an entire cake between the two of us. They asked us if we wanted to put the rest of it in the fridge, and without knowing what we were agreeing to, we said sure. With every meal after that (and yes, that includes breakfast), a piece of cake just showed up at our table. I'm not sure I need to have chocolate cake for a really, really long time!
