French Air Show
For some strange reason, we ha
ve had more than our fair share of air shows come to town. Why? I have no idea. The beauty of it all, though, is that 2 of the 3 air shows that came to town were right over our house! Ok, I guess that could be a problem if any accidents happen, but to their credit, all went well. First, it was the French. . .

The Sisters 3
On to th
e next set of visitors . . . Our friend who lives in Abu Dhabi had her 2 sisters come to visit her for a couple of weeks, and what better place to take them than Oman, while they were in the neighborhood! While they were here, we were going to show them greater Oman, but Jason had the misfortune of being on call that weekend, which means he can't be more than an hour away from the city at any given time. This meant it was time for us to be creative. What can we show these guys that is within an hour perimeter? Well, we went out on the boat, obviously, but you've probably seen way too many pictures about that. But it seems like when in Oman, you must go hiking through the mountains, right? (Just humor me and say yes.) But you ask . . . "How can you hike in the mountains when you have to stay in the city?" Ok, if you weren't going to ask that, then you would if you knew that the mountains were a good 2 to 3 hours away. So let's just pretend you asked the question. Well, it turns out that there is this beautiful hike, right in the center of town! Go figure. So we took the hour and a half trek through the random mountain in the middle of downtown Muscat. Even driving by, you wouldn't gu
ess that this trek was there, but it is actually a really gorgeous adventure close to home. At the end of the hike, it just dumps you right back into the center of town, which means you have to walk through the neighborhood to get back to the car. And like every neighborhood, you have to have a little graffiti to make it home. Too bad they can't spell . . . (And for those of you who aren't into their rap artists, that is supposed to be Snoop Dog)
