Koala Sanctuary

I am not normally one for zoos, but our trip to the Lone Pines Koala Sanctuary wasn't your typical zoo visit. Maybe it was because we didn't feel the need to spend all day staring at animals that seemed all too familiar. I mean . . . you've seen one elephant you've seen them all, right? :) In fact, any animal park has got to be better if you put a bunch of strange animals in it like koalas and dingoes, but how often do you get to see cute little koalas, not only set up in their confined spaces for the easily amused who need their close up look, but also "in the wild" amongst the trees that are just randomly scattered throughout the park? But that was nothing in comparison to the kangaroo exhibit. It isn't really doing it justice to call it an exhibit. In fact, it is actually a pretty large area that you walk into and stroll around amongst them. Ok, the ugly little emus that were also in the same area didn't really do it for me, but the kangaroos were pretty cool. I mean, how often do you get a chance to feed and pet a kangaroo!
